Progressive Tempo Session

This session, taken from “Run Faster” by Brad Hudson and Matt Fitzgerald, is a late training phase, hard tempo session. This session will take you through the full spectrum of ‘tempo’ paces from marathon pace, half marathon pace, through to 10k pace (or a tad slower) and expect you to hold them. This tough session is definitely only for those with experience of hard tempo and for those at or near peak fitness. If you want to push it to elite level – do 15 mins instead of 10. Ouch.

  • 2 miles easy
  • 10 mins @ marathon pace
  • [1 min easy]
  • 10 mins @ half marathon pace
  • [1 min easy]
  • 10 mins @ 10k+ pace
  • 2 miles easy
